Book review time again! This time around it is Every Perfect Gift by Dorothy Love. It is the third and final in the Hickory Ridge Romance series but it stands alone just fine. This is the first book by Love that I have read.
Sophie Caldwell returns to Hickory Ridge, Tennessee where she lived in the orphanage as a child. She is determined to get the newspaper in town going again and even more determined to show the town she has become more than the "mongrel" orphan they considered her. Her first task as newspaper owner is to interview Ethan Heyward, the manager of the new resort in town, Blue Ridge.
Sophie and Ethan form a friendship but both of their pasts hold them back from sharing too much. Not to mention Ethan's boss tries to destroy Sophie's newspaper business. Sophie and Ethan have to work through many obstacles as they learn to trust each other and God and grow their relationship.
I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure just because I had never heard of nor read Dorothy Love before. Ms. Love weaved her characters and stories together quite well. I did find it a bit difficult to start but once I got into the third chapter it was much easier. I also found that it ended rather abruptly. I think it could have ended just a little bit better. Overall, it was a good book. I would recommend it.
